Field log

Chart the hunt before the tide moves the box.

Drop a hunting zone, keep a quarry of ships, and write the dossier while the position is still a circle you can search.

How a hunt is kept

Four marks on the same expedition.

  1. 01

    Drop a hunting zone

Name the water, set a center, and hold every possible hull inside a circle you can actually search.

  2. 02

    Quarry the ship

Record the year it sank, depth, coordinates, confidence, and whether the site is open for diving, technical only, or a permit or war grave. Move the hunt from target to search, then found or not found.

  3. 03

    Write the dossier

Keep history, search notes, sonar, and the dive itself together: depth, visibility, current, and water temperature. Attach an anchor, an engine, a nameplate, structure, or a sonar still.

  4. 04

    Trace the drift

Lift a historical fix, estimate how far the wreck may have moved and on which bearing, draw the search area, then log the discovery. Watch keeps the next dive window and a short field brief beside it.
